Granada Park Town Homes – COMMUNITY

About Mountain View, California:

The City of Mountain View began as stagecoach stop on the route connecting the Port of San Francisco and the new State Capitol in San Jose. Covered in lush orchards and magnificent vineyards the town became an agricultural boomtown in the late 1800’s. The town was incorporated in 1902 with a population of 611. Post World War II, the City’s population exploded with the growth of the electronic and aerospace industries but Mountain View remained predominantly agricultural through the 1940’s, 1950’s, and the 1960’s. Contemporary Mountain View has seen itself transformed from an agricultural-focused town into a high-tech center located in the heart of the Silicon Valley.

Chartered on January 15, 1952, Mountain View operates under a Council/Manager form of government. The City’s seven Councilmember’s are elected at large for four-year terms which are staggered so that three of the four Council seats are filled at the general municipal election in November of every even numbered year. In January of each year the Council elects one of its members to serve as Mayor and another as Vice Mayor. The City Manager is appointed by the Council and is responsible for the administration of City business.

Today the City of Mountain View covers 12 square miles and is home to 71,995 people. Located 10 miles north of San Jose and 35 miles south of San Francisco. Mountain View is perfectly situated between the Santa Cruz Mountains and the San Francisco Bay. San Jose International Airport is located 11 miles to the south, and San Francisco International Airport is located 25 miles to the north. All airports are easily accessible from Mountain View by Light Rail and CALTRANS.

Mountain View prides itself on having attractive and well-built residential communities that are served with neighborhood parks and playgrounds, recreational facilities, quality education, and convenient shopping. Housing types include a wide range of styles and sizes to suite all preferences. In addition to having ownership opportunities there are a number of rental properties to suite divergent needs.

Mountain View recognizes the need for a robust local economy and Economic Development continues to be a high priority. We are proud to be one of only three city’s in the State of California with an AAA credit rating which means the City has been formally recognized as having a solid and diversified tax base; a very strong financial operation; and having a low debt burden. Mountain View is proud to have a solid small-business base as well as being home to many of the world’s most pioneering organizations in the field of High-Tech, Biotech, and Telecommunications. We are also proud to have NASA Ames, one of the nation’s leading research laboratories, reside in our City.

The City’s mission is to provide quality services and facilities that meet the needs of a caring and diverse community in a financially responsible manner.
